Public Outreach

Over the years, the Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) has practiced and maintained a commitment to serve the neighborhoods of the City of Boston. This section demonstrates this on-going commitment and provides you with a number of educational resources, information on water issues, conservation tips and more. If you need additional information or have specific questions about any of these pages, please call Community Services at 617-989-7000.


In the Education section, the Kids' Corner offers a number of children activities, including downloadable coloring pages, puzzles and activity books. Young people can participate in the Storm Drain Stenciling Program which provides both fun and education. In this section, you can also find various educational resources for the classroom and learn how to enter a poster contest.

Lead Resources

Information on lead in drinking water is a critical issue, especially for parents with young children. In this section, BWSC provides information as well as offers a Lead Replacement Incentive Program.

Conservation and Prevention

Conservation tips and conservation kits are available here. Learn how to save water everyday and apply for a free residential conservation kit.

Pollution prevention is an important issue for residents, businesses and contractors. This section offers helpful suggestions for residents such as “Scoop the Poop” as well as mandated procedures for business and contractors.

Neighborhood Site Visits

Local Rainfall and Water Theft

This section offers additional information on rainfall data, what to do if you suspect water theft as well as how to protect yourself from unauthorized solicitations.
